Purpose of the group:
To build into and support people in recovery through community, conversations, and hangouts with a focus geared toward active and extreme sports, adventure activities, and nature. We are located in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the group is to support individuals in recovery. To provide community, conversation, and fun active events and hangouts. To provide a safe sober space to talk about and work through life and recovery struggles in community. To utilize nature, active and extreme sports and activities, and adventures as an outlet, a challenge, and a way to build bonds. Most importantly our goal is to help people stay sober! To support them and help them build and enjoy life. To help them build healthy sober relationships with people and connect with God. To try to pass along and share the X-factor that has worked for us to find a way to make something that works for them.
What we do at meetings & events:
Meetings - We meet every other week to hang out, talk about life and recovery, and maybe do something small like have a fire, skate the mini-ramp, shoot some basketball, or do a short hike.
Events - Once or twice a month, depending on the time of year, we will get together to do something fun like rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, camping, dirt bikes, adventure motorcycles, skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, etc. We are open to all skill levels from first timers to advanced. Sometimes people have a great time just hiking in and hanging out under the rock climbing wall without even climbing. We can help you get, rent, or borrow gear. All activities are done at your own risk.
Who should join:
The group is for adults in recovery who have struggled with addiction or mental health issues (anxiety, depression, trauma, etc.) or people who have been impacted by someone close to them struggling with these issues. It is for people who want to build a recovery community and are open to active, challenging activities and hangouts. People whose recovery doesn’t include substance abuse and aren’t sober are welcome, but these meetings and events are drug & alcohol free.
